I Get All My Business Ideas in Bed

I Get All My Business Ideas in Bed

Srsly. I’m not even kidding, and I wish it was as it means interrupted sleep or late nights. Like last night. Gah.

I’m thinking I may have to start keeping a notepad by my bedside, or maybe even my laptop. Then again, that will encourage interrupted sleep even more so. But yeah, the initial idea for Robot Panties came to me when I was in bed. The record label I set up when I was 16 came about when I was in bed. Countless ideas for my current business have been conceived in bed.

I want to use my office for ideas, and my bed for other stuff (if you know what I’m sayin’).

I hear you, I have a moleskine and pen beside my bed for said situation, however I find that the majority of my ideas come in the shower.. I’m still looking for a good solution to that!

All my ideas seem to come in the shower, not limited to business/web dev either. I have a bit of an active imagination so by the time I am finished with my shower and gotten dressed I could have a strong idea for a story/game. Unfortunately I don’t have the time or resources to bring them to life :(

I suppose you could switch the roles of your bedroom and office. Plan your business and dream up ideas in bed, and sleep (er…) on your desk at work?

Quick! Gap in the market. Waterproof whiteboard that can be attached to tiled walls. Fun!

I totally agree with Mike and Sam; my best ideas also pop up in the shower and I usually totally forget about them right after too! I got myself a Moleskine notebook quite recently though to take notes on design ideas and general other thoughts when I’m around the flat or at uni, they are really really awesome notebooks :)

Hmm… it’s interesting you saying that if you were to keep a notebook beside your bed, it would “encourage” interrupted sleep- I read somewhere that if you do keep a notebook beside your bed, and if any ideas or tasks that need completing, then you’d actually get a better night’s sleep as your mind would not be burdened any more with those ideas as they’d be safe and sound in the notebook.

That’s what I’ve read, anyway! I guess at the end of the day, it’s whatever works for you.

Aah, no, I meant a laptop would encourage interrupted sleep, purely because I’d end up internet surfing well into night.

Well I thought I was the odd one but listening to this I’m obviously not! I get 98% of my ideas and inspiration when in the shower also, unfortunately the other 2% comes when I’m on the pot.

Bathrooms have a lot to say for themselves, they’re like inspirational supernovas.

I'm interested to know what you think. Leave a comment
