We Bought iPhones. Finally.

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

I know, I’m little bit late to the iPhone party, but the one and only time I was an early adopter ended in disaster (that damn HD DVD add-on for the 360, now made redundant by the victorious Blu-Ray).

Yesterday I was in the pre-teen pregnancy, ned capital of Scotland, Greenock. I’ve been going for reiki a little over a month now (a very relaxing and spiritual form of healing), and afterwards I managed to drag my mum over to the O2 shop for “just a quick look” at the iPhones.

iPhone 3G, 8GB BlackI’ve been pestering her for a while to upgrade because she’s constantly in and out of airports, flying down to England. There have been so many times I’ve called to tell her of important business emails we’ve received, but she’s had no way of checking them herself while out of the office.

Of course we were immediately approached by a member of staff, and 5 minutes later we found out I was also due for a handset upgrade. Awesome timing, right?! 45 minutes later we both left with 8GB black iPhones, a free dock for me, and a free pink case for my mum (turns out the sales guy is a huge 360 gamer… Cue a lot of excited chat about Fallout 3, Vegas, and Fable II).

I haven’t had a chance to play around with mine too much. Last night was absolutely hectic (drinks with the boyfriend’s parents), and this morning I had to hastily address some issues with one of our web sites. However, I popped round to my mum’s house this morning after receiving a text from her last night.

Want my old phone back. Too difficult.

So I have a couple of questions.

Firstly, is there no way to forward a text? My mum is really into her ‘funnies’ (as she calls them), and likes to forward all the jokes she receives. So far we haven’t found a way to do this, and she’s pretty gutted about it.

What apps should I get? And what apps do you think a mum would like? o_O

Simon and IOh, and I know the iPhone camera doesn’t have a great reputation, but I couldn’t resist taking a few snaps. Here’s my first shot taken on my iPhone. I blame the blurriness on a concoction of Malibu and cranberry juice.
